Founder & Former Commander of the FBI's Counter Terror Force, Hostage Rescue Team, and Best-Selling Author of No Heroes: Inside the FBI's Secret Counter-Terror Force
Program Title - The War on Terrorism: Past, Present and Future
On September 11, 2001, our world was shattered by the most heinous terrorist act to date, and Danny Coulson, founder and former commander of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Hostage Rescue Team (HRT) though shocked, was not surprised. In an FBI career that spans three decades, he has brought hundreds of murderous extremists to justice, including Middle Eastern bombers, Black Liberation Army police assassins and treacherous white supremacists. And most notably, he led the arrest of Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh and convinced McVeigh's friend Michael Fortier to become the government's star witness.
At the podium, Coulson sheds new light on the events of September 11th and gives valuable insight into the proclaimed War on Terrorism. He opens a long-locked door into the secretive world of the HRT, the civilian equivalent of the U.S. military's elite Delta Force. Riveting accounts of such high-profile investigations as the Oklahoma City bombing and Atlanta prison riots and tense showdowns including Ruby Ridge and Waco reveal how lessons learned then applies to the challenges ahead. His stories spring to life with nerve-jangling electricity as he discloses the tactics and teamwork of HRT snipers, operators, negotiators, and experts in assaults, electronics and explosives.
Danny Coulson is a native Texan who served with the Federal Bureau of Investigation from 1966 until 1997. He received his Bachelors of Arts Degree in Government from Texas Christian University in 1963 and received his law degree from Southern Methodist University in 1966, passing the Texas Bar that same year.
