Can You "See"? An Evening With See The Poet

See has a message, and you will never experience anything like it. Featured on TLC's The Messengers, this self proclaimed “Performance Poet,” possesses the rare quality that was recently described by a panel of judges for a television audition as, “One being one’s gift.” Combining hip-hop and a lot of divine inspiration, he brings to the stage his truth through a very cool version of a very ancient art.

Raised on the south side of Chicago, See is what many call “the real deal.” Talent aside, his testimony reads like a script from a Hollywood movie. Every moment he has lived is both suspenseful and surreal, leading to the “never give up, never give in” attitude that See exudes. He has been flat broke and homeless. He didn't have a relationship with his biological father, and the mother he adored was murdered in 1994... and See found her body. He has also battled health issues, beating sometimes life-threatening hypertension for over a decade. And the list of seemingly insurmountable obstacles goes on. Nevertheless, See declares, “I’m writing for my life!” and follows his beloved mother's words telling him that he was born to “free his people." For See, that means pursuing his sacred mission of creating poetry.

With his eyes fixated on succeeding no matter what the odds against him, the journey will undoubtedly be a pleasure to witness and achieve. Through his company, What I See Entertainment, See continues writing and performing and has a book and spoken work CD in the works. He currently lives and works in Atlanta.
