Franken is also well known for his work as a comedian and satirist, both on Saturday Night Live and off. Deservedly, he has received four Emmys for his writing on SNL and a fifth for producing. In 1988, he provided commentary for CNN at the Democratic National Convention in Atlanta. And in 1992, he anchored Comedy Central's "Indecision '92", winning wide critical acclaim for his coverage of both conventions and election night. The New York Post called him "the Walter Cronkite of the 90's." He is also a frequent guest on Politically Incorrect, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Late Show with David Letterman.

In other arenas, Franken has also excelled. He was co-writer of the Touchstone Pictures film When a Man Loves a Woman starring Andy Garcia and Meg Ryan. Written with Ron Bass, (Rainman, Sleeping with the Enemy) the movie grossed over a hundred million dollars worldwide. What's more, Franken's album, You're Good Enough, You're Smart Enough, and Doggone It, People Like You! was nominated for a Grammy in the "best comedy" category. At the lecture podium, he engages audiences from some of the nation's top corporations, association and universities with his hilarious and insightful commentary on the state on national politics and world affairs.
