Toasted by legendary Coach Pat Riley as "the greatest player ever," Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is one of most distinguished and recognizable sports figures of our time. This NBA Hall of Famer who astounded fans for twenty seasons is also a best-selling author (Giant Steps, Black Profiles in Courage: A Legacy of African-American Achievement), actor (Airplane,The Stand), entrepreneur (Kareem Productions) and film producer (The Vernon Johns Story). At the podium, this towering man inspires with true tales from his own storied career, emphasizing leadership, teamwork and the drive for excellence.

While his achivements on the basketball court are well-known, his role as an international spokesperson and role model--from teaching basketball to kids worldwide to serving as an ambassador of American Goodwill--is the one he most dearly cherishes. Athletes and Entertainers for Kids established "Kareem's Kids" in 1989 aiming to keep children in school longer. He also formed a program for high school athletes that focuses on the importance of higher education and earning good grades, and has worked extensively with RP International, various literacy groups and C.A.R.E. Kareem's latest project took him to the Fort Apache Indian Reservation in Arizona, where he was the volunteer coach of the reservation's basketball team.
